Eastern Martin 404 cockpit arrives.

As you can see the cockpit just fit thru our loading dock door.


















Thanks to Bob Maione, Eric Valenzuela, the truck driver, Grant Wainscott, and Chuck Maire for working so hard to get this in the door and ready for display.


















































We also want to thank Bill Bradshaw of Prop-Liners of America and Doug Scroggins for helping us find the cockpit and then donating it to us. Thanks also to United Rentals for the discounted rental of the forklift.














Finally it is in the building. Now comes the task of cleaning it up and getting it in the display area.

The cockpit of a former Eastern Airlines Martin 404, and Ray Charles' personal airplane is coming to the museum this month.

Below are pictures of our newest addition to the museum. This former Eastern Airlines 404 was delivered to Eastern in 1952. It also flew as Ray Charles' personal plane during the 1960's. It was then turned into a freight plane and was in service with Frontier Airways in Wyoming. It has been sitting in Sheridan since 1978. We are only taking the cockpit section as moving the entire airplane was cost prohibitive. This will make a fine exhibit next to our one and only Martin 404 Cockpit procedure trainer from Southern Airways. We hope to be able to publish some pictures as the plane is being dismantled. The weather has not been the best in Sheridan this week and they have had several inches of snow. If all goes well we should see the cockpit delivered on or about the 22nd of October.
